The Ivy Community Charities of Prince George’s County, Inc. was established as the non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-deductible arm of the Iota Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Its purpose is to support the cultural and general welfare of residents of Prince George’s County. In 2010, The Ivy Community Charities of Prince George’s County, Inc. contributed over $38,000 in scholarships to Prince George’s County high school students. Charities, as it is referred to, is the avenue by which corporations, foundations, public agencies and individuals may assist Iota Gamma Omega Chapter in its efforts to serve the community through tax deductible contributions.
During calendar year 2010, Charities expended over thirty thousand dollars on community projects including the Institute for the Growth and Development of All America's Youth, known as the Institute GADAAY.
Throughout its long and productive history, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has responded to the changing needs of society through programs designed to improve and protect the quality of life at local, national, and international levels. In this effort, the Institute for the Growth and Development of All America's Youth was established. The Institute GADAAY targets youth entering grades 9 thru 12.
MISSION
The Institute for the Growth and Development of All America's Youth exists to provide an opportunity for All America's youth of Prince George’s County, including economically disadvantaged youth, to enhance and cultivate their educational, cultural, community, and social growth through educational workshops, cultural activities, and participation in community service programs and projects.
GOAL
The goal of the Institute for the Growth and Development of All America's Youth is to promote the personal, social, cultural growth and development of young people to empower them to build self-esteem, self-confidence, improve academically, and develop skills and abilities that will enable them to thrive and be successful in life.
