Introduction to the Institute GADAAY “Orientation” & “The Foundation”

Public Speaking & Team Building Workshop Presentation

This workshop will set the expectations for the workshop presentations.  Review the basics of public speaking, team building, understanding self in relation to others, and self and group evaluations. 

October 1, 2011

 “Can You Hear Me Now?”

This workshop will focus on public speaking and best practices.  Each GADAAY Fellow will be required to give a 3-5 minute speech that will be critiqued by other GADAAY Fellows and GADAAY Coaches using a checklist of best practices for public speaking.

November 5, 2011

“Boiling Point”

This workshop will deal with anger management and determining the trigger points.

“VOTE or DIE” ~ Part 1

GADAAY Fellows will explore the impact of voting and participating in the governmental process in their community and neighborhood.  Demonstrate how voting impacts each of us personally in our daily lives.

December 3, 2011

“Budgeting, Finances and Credit “Get our money Up”

Institute GADAAY Fellows will each receive a budget and items they need to purchase.  They will have to determine what is most important and prioritize their spending.

“Pay It Forward” Creating a Community of Giving 

Fellows will focus on strategies for making community service and giving a permanent part of their lives.  By learning to give of their time, talents and treasure to the growth and development of others.

“Sweet Dream or Beautiful Nightmare”

Fellows will explore how goal setting and making a plan for their life will benefit them in the long term.  Will discuss how having no plan can lead to dead ends.

February 4, 2012

“VOTE or DIE” ~ Part 2

Fellows will explore the impact of voting and participating in the governmental process in their neighborhood and community.  Fellows will reflect upon how “voting” affects all of us personally in our daily lives.

March 3, 2012

“Who Gon’ Check Me Boo?”

Fellows will develop a sense of respect for others and themselves.  Understanding that the sense of entitlement ends where someone else’s begins.  Learning to compromise and disagree without being offensive.

April 7, 2012

“First Aid and Healthy Living (S.O.S. Saving Ourselves)”

This workshop will focus on identifying the common methods to prevent stress, learn healthy eating habits and common first aid methods.

May 7, 2012

“No More Excuses!!!!  Make it Happen!!!”

This workshop will outline strategies to removing roadblocks in your life and make things happen in and for your life.

June 2, 2012

Ivy League ~ Closing Awards Ceremony

The June Awards ceremony is an End of Year culminating activity for Institute GADAAY, Emerging Young Leaders and the Popcorn Club.
